General
CBEM LLC is a California Regional Center partner providing specialized crisis intervention and prevention services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We serve individuals with qualifying Regional Center diagnoses who are experiencing behavioral or mental health crises — particularly those with co-occurring mental health conditions. Our goal is to help individuals remain safely in their homes and communities while building long-term stability.
CBEM provides one integrated crisis intervention service with three dimensions of support: acute crisis response, chronic crisis management, and prevention. We focus not only on resolving the immediate crisis but also on preventing recurrence through structured support, individualized strategies, and ongoing engagement with the individual, their family, and their care team.
Services are initiated through a referral from your Regional Center Service Coordinator or Social Worker. If you are unsure whether you qualify, contact your Regional Center and ask about crisis intervention services. If you are a Regional Center service coordinator looking to refer a client, contact your regional CBEM office — we will acknowledge the referral and initiate intake within 24 to 72 hours.
CBEM specializes exclusively in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom experience co-occurring mental health needs. That specialization is the whole design, not a subspecialty of a broader practice.
We ask only that a person be served by a Regional Center. There is no additional diagnostic screening, no severity threshold, and no age limit. We define crisis as a reduction in a person’s quality of life, which means we respond to situations before they reach a breaking point.
And we work upstream wherever we can. Prevention is not an add-on to the model. It is the reason the model exists.
CBEM currently serves 14+ Regional Centers and operates 18+ offices from Northern to Southern California. Our teams are present in more than 50 counties statewide. East Los Angeles Regional Center and the Regional Center of Orange County are coming soon.
